Jamie Jones-Buchanan makes bold play-off prediction

Last night Leigh Leopards came up short against Wigan Warriors in the Battle of the Borough on Sky Sports.

The Leopards led 6-0 early on through Tom Briscoe in a move that saw Gareth O’Brien’s night end as he was hit late by Jake Wardle with Wardle also being forced off by a yellow card.

However, Wigan are masters of the long game and eventually they powered over the Leopards scoring seven tries as Bevan French put together a real masterclass of a performance.

But despite this Jamie Jones-Buchanan was full of praise for the Leopards believing they could make the play-offs in 2023.

He said on Sky Sports: “I have some old friends playing here for Leigh. There is a lot of talk expecting them to be bouncing around the bottom.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up in the top six. Zak Hardaker who is playing out of his skin and a former Man of Steel, Josh Charnley who is scoring tries for fun, Tom Briscoe who is a former Lance Todd trophy winner.

“It is littered with quality players.”

Next week is another test for Leigh as they take on last year’s semi-finalists Salford Red Devils as part of Rivals Round.

The game will be live on Sky Sports.
