Jamie Jones-Buchanan concedes he was wrong about Super League side

Jamie Jones-Buchanan is very impressed by one team in particular in Super League.

As the Sky Sports pundits reviewed their pre-season predictions at the mid-way stage, Buchanan conceded he was wrong about Leigh’s survival prospects.

“At the start of the season I thought what goes up must come down and I was referring to the Leigh Leopards,” Buchanan said.

“That’s because that’s what usually happens to teams who come up from the Championship, they bounce back to the Championship.

“What I don’t know now is if they are even going to finish in the bottom six. If I was them, I would be aiming for the top six.”

He then went on to say he feels there is now more chance of them making the Grand Final than being relegated:

“I actually think there is more chance of them making a Grand Final than getting relegated right now.

“Derek Beaumont is doing a fantastic job and on the pitch there has been some outstanding performers.

“Josh Charnley, Tom Briscoe, but it all starts in the middle with Edwin Ipape, Lachlan Lam and Gareth O’Brien.

“Tom Briscoe, the old timer is in great form and another former teammate of mine Zak Hardaker, after doing it tough a year ago at Wigan Warriors, he’s revived his career through Leeds Rhinos and Leigh Leopards.”
