We have so many special players in Super League whether it is Harry Newman at Leeds Rhinos, Bevan French and Jai Field at Wigan Warriors, Jonny Lomax at St Helens or George Williams at Warrington Wolves.
Even the likes of Huddersfield Giants’ Jake Connor and of course the new stars building a reputation such as Jake Clifford at Hull FC and Lachlan Lam at Leigh Leopards.
Meanwhile, plenty of young players are emerging as the next huge stars of Super League.
One of those is Hull KR star Mikey Lewis. The stand-off is one of the best players to watch in rugby league at the moment.
He is more than just a livewire, he’s a creative spark but also has a never say die attitude.
However, this brilliant attitude has a dark side and we have seen it especially with his yellow card against Leigh Leopards.
This led to criticism from Paul Cooke who said on Sky Sports: “It’s lunacy. I think I said at the time that I wasn’t sure if it was a yellow card and I asked the question, do we really want to award a yellow card for that.
“But when you see the wide angle, it’s just stupid and he needs to get it out of his game.
“We saw it at the Magic Weekend when he threw Tyler Dupree’s boot away, it’s just not needed.”
Meanwhile, Leeds Rhinos legend Jamie Jones-Buchanan has suggested that Lewis is perhaps “over aroused.”
He said on Sky Sports: “He’s just over aroused. I wouldn’t want to get that entirely out of him, I think we forget that he is only 22.”
Lewis now has to battle for his place in the side. This is because the Robins have drafted in Brad Schneider from the NRL to see out the season.
There has also been a suggestion he could switch to fullback.
