Jamie Jones-Buchanan claims Super League side are struggling because of star player’s exit

The Sky Sports pundits have expressed concern about Huddersfield Giants in 2023.

Ian Watson’s side returned to the winning circle over the weekend with a 20-4 win over Castleford Tigers but this week they face the Champions St Helens at the Magic Weekend.

Barrie McDermott meanwhile expressed that he wasn’t sure about the Giants in 2023:

“I just don’t know. They’re unpredictable at best. The way that they play within the confines that Ian Watson has set for them just makes me unclear and unsure how they are going to look.

“The big games they are not playing well in and it’s the same for the games they are supposed to win.

“They conceded 40 points in the Challenge Cup and that is nowhere near the hallmark of an Ian Watson side.

“I bet they’re confused in the changing rooms. They’ll be wondering, who is the main playmaker? Is it Jake Connor, Theo Fages or Tui Lolohea.”

As he felt the problem lay in the spine, Jamie Jones-Buchanan suggested that the real problem was the loss of hooker Danny Levi.

He then suggested that new signing from Castleford Adam Milner could change all that:

“I think it might be an omission. I think they miss Danny Levi and maybe Adam Milner going there might be the difference in time but who knows.”
