Jamie Jones-Buchanan and Danny McGuire give honest verdict on Lee Radford and Castleford Tigers

Castleford Tigers went down 32-22 to Wigan Warriors last night in what was an interesting and topsy-turvy game.

After slipping to a 28-6 deficit, Castleford pulled themselves together to bring it back to 28-22, only to be pegged back by two late Zak Hardaker penalties.

However, in the Sky Sports studio, Jamie Jones-Buchanan and Danny McGuire were full of praise for Lee Radford’s men.

“That’s passion and when you’ve got passion you’ve got fuel,” Jones-Buchanan said.

“Sometimes that needs steering and shaping but they will get there.

“All they need is a win – they’ve showed some great signs and they have used 25 players so far this year so there’s a big turnaround.”

“A couple of questionable decisions went against them, but they will get tons of confidence from this,” Jones-Buchanan said.

“They’re a determined and committed team.”

McGuire echoed those sentiments: “If you’re a Cas fan it was a gutsy performance and you’ve got to acknowledge that.

“The players have got a fair bit of spirit there – Castleford were outstanding in their application and were unlucky not to make it to a further contest.”

Castleford go up against Leeds Rhinos in the Challenge Cup next weekend, hoping for some respite from the league.
