James Donaldson reacts to Luke Gale, his move to Hull FC and playing against him

When Leeds Rhinos take on Hull FC this weekend in what will be Tom Briscoe’s testimonial game, there will be one familiar face on the opposition for the Black and Whites.

That, of course, will be Hull’s new skipper Luke Gale who made the off-season move to the MKM Stadium.

A close friend of Gale’s is James Donaldson – a Leeds enforcer who has made a name for himself for his toughness and tenacity – and he cannot wait to go up against him once more.

“I always enjoy playing against Galey,” Donaldson told the Leeds Youtube channel.

“He’s a really good friend of mine but I’m sure he will do a great job over there and I’m looking forward to going up against him again.

“I’ll wait for my chance (to go after him), I know it will come at some stage,” Donaldson joked.

It will be Briscoe’s testimonial game and, after playing almost 150 games for Hull in a six-season period as well as over 170 appearances for Leeds, Donaldson couldn’t speak highly enough of the winger-turned-centre.

“He really deserves it Tom.

“With him playing at Hull too, hopefully he will get plenty of fans coming over here from there too.

“He is a legend and he fully deserves it.”
