Jake Trueman’s future reportedly takes new twist

The future of Jake Trueman has been doing the rounds since Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell left the Jungle for pastures new at Warrington Wolves.

However, there has never been anything concrete happen with Trueman’s own agent revealing at the end of last season that the halfback had been linked with the likes of Hull FC, Leeds Rhinos and even the NRL.

Now, though, a Twitter page has claimed that Trueman is in talks with the Tigers over a new deal.

English Rugby League ITK stated: “ERLITK are aware that contract renewal talks are progressing well with Jake Trueman and his management team. Whilst the NRL remains a desire of Jake’s, having an injury free campaign and regaining his best form is his priority. NRL release clause will be a must.”

Trueman’s agent Craig Harrison – also known as Show Me The Money UK – previously labelled such rumours of a move away as ‘disrespectful’ to Castleford.

“Everyone said he’s going to Leeds, Warrington and Melbourne and then I’ve had someone saying he’s going to Hull,” Harrison said on The Full Eighty Minutes podcast when the rumours surfaced last year.

“When you’re at that level he is, if there wasn’t every club in the country going after him then there would be something wrong, but it’s still disrespectful to talk about anything other than Castleford.

“He loves it at Cas, he’s a great kid and he’s not someone who bangs down doors asking for moves.”

Trueman has been handed the number 6 shirt again, this time by new head coach Lee Radford as Castleford aim to reach the play-offs for the first time in three years.

It’s great that agents can start numerous rumours and then say they’re rubbish when the time comes.
And why do they all remind me of “Loadsamoney” comedy sketches?
