Wakefield Trinity, through some clever negotiating skills, have secured Jake Trueman ‘s services in a way which could see him play for them this season.

Trueman, now 25 years-old, started at Bradford Bulls before getting his big break with Castleford Tigers, with whom he played over 100 games in six seasons.

In just his second appearance for the club, he scored a hat-trick against Wigan Warriors in the Tigers’ 2017 season with head coach Daryl Powell called him “the most promising half-back in the English game” at the the time.

He was picked for the England Nines squad, as well as Great Britain for their tour of the Southern Hemisphere in 2018.

In 2021, he played in the Challenge Cup final defeat to St Helens and after a series of injury concerns, in 2023 he joined Hull FC..

Since joining the Black and Whites, he hasn’t managed to play any of the first nine rounds of a season due to even more injury problems, but managed eleven-straight games this year before a calf problem.

Now, he has joined Wakefield Trinity after being released from the final year of his contract.

The club confirmed in a statement: “Trueman will sign a deal until the end of the 2027 season with Wakefield.

“The deal was done prior to the transfer deadline with an agreement being put in place that sees Trueman remain at Hull FC until the completion of the Super League side’s fixtures.

“This means that Jake Trueman will be available for selection for Wakefield from Saturday 21st September.”

As such, he is already a permanent Wakefield Trinity player, and with Hull FC not making the Super League play-offs, he’ll be free for the final game of the regular season – against Doncaster – as well as the semi-final and potentially the final for Trinity.
