Jake Trueman has taken to social media to thank Hull FC and the club’s supporters following the announcement of his move to Wakefield Trinity. Trueman saw his move to the West Yorkshire outfit confirmed earlier this week with the half-back being released from the remainder of his contract.
The 25-year-old still had a year left to run on the three-year deal he penned when he joined the Black and Whites ahead of the 2023 season, but the club have allowed him to link up with Trinity. It comes after two difficult seasons in west Hull with troublesome injuries seeing him miss huge chunks of match action.
As such, in two seasons he has made just 26 appearances for the club and after picking up a lower leg issue earlier this month, he is expected to miss much of the remainder of the season.
However, it seems the intricacies of the deal will allow Trueman to represent Wakefield before the end of the year with the Championship club securing his services before the transfer deadline and loaning him back to the Black and Whites.
As such, as soon as Hull’s Super League campaign comes to a close, he will be able to make the move to Belle Vue and represent the club in the Championship play-offs.
It’s a move that sees Trueman reunited with Daryl Powell, who he performed so well under at Castleford Tigers, too, with the expectation being that they will be competing in the top flight next season.
It’s fair to say Trueman struggled to find traction at the MKM Stadium, but that hasn’t prevented him from sending a message of appreciation following the announcement of the deal.
“Thanks for everything Hull FC over the last two years,” he tweeted. “Really do appreciate all the support from the fans and the club. It won’t be forgotten.”
Hull are yet to find a replacement for Trueman and while the club have been linked with a move for Leigh Leopards’ Lachlan Lam, it seems they are still looking for a new half-back. The club have already added Jordan Abdull to their ranks while Cade Cust will be joining FC, too.
