Jake Trueman hilariously hits back at Hull FC fan after wage claim

Jake Trueman has taken to social media to hit back at suggestions about the size of his Hull FC salary. The half-back has been released from his Black and Whites contract and will link up with Wakefield Trinity at the end of the Super League season.

Trueman spent two years at the MKM Stadium but struggled to find the traction required to hit top form with a series of injuries impacting his game time. As such, while he did have a year left to run on his contract, the club have made the decision to move on from Trueman.

The former Castleford Tigers man has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Wakefield, where he will link up with his former Tigers boss Daryl Powell, with the expectation being that Wakefield will be welcomed back into the Super League next season.

Hull are yet to announce a replacement for Trueman, but the club are reported to be on the verge of adding Wests Tigers’ Aidan Sezer to their ranks for the 2025 campaign. The former Huddersfield Giants and Leeds Rhinos man has been a regular under Benji Marshall in the NRL this season.

News of the signing didn’t go down particularly well with supporters, though, with many Hull fans voicing their frustrations on social media. However, there were a handful of people who saw the positives of such a deal and Trueman has responded to one of them following a reference about his wage.

One fan wrote on X: “Played under Cartwright. 8 assists in 17 games in the NRL. About 200k less than Trueman. I know it’s not flashy but we’re 11th and had 3 wins in 30 you wont attract the big guys and there’s not a lot of halves available anyway. Trust the process.”

Taking exception to the suggestion that he was on an enormous wage during his time in East Yorkshire, Trueman responded: “He’ll be disappointed if he’s on 200 less than me. Not sure he’d pay the club to play for them.”

Trueman remains sidelined with a calf issue at present, but he will remain with Hull until the end of the Super League season before moving to Wakefield in order to play a part in their play-off campaign.
