Jake Trueman will be a Castleford player in 2022, he confirmed on Twitter.

Trueman is set for surgery on a back problem that will see him miss the rest of the season as he heads into surgery to sort the problem out once and for all

“Jake is gone for the year, he will have a back operation next week,” Powell said.

“It’s been really difficult to get to the bottom of it, but he’s walking around with a lot of pain consistently – pain he hasn’t got rid of between the (Challenge Cup) semi-final and final and ever since that.”

The Tigers boss is hoping that Trueman will make a full recovery and that it won’t be career-threatening.

“For us it’s disappointing, but we’ve got Danny Richardson back in the team and he’s got an opportunity to play well for the rest of the year.

“I think Jake will make a full recovery – I don’t think it’s a massive operation but with any back operation there is a risk.

“I think he’s having a disk shaved, but I think he will be fine.

“But, what that looks like down the line for Truey is I’m hoping he will be all good.

“I just hope he’s going to be alright first and foremost and everything is clear and he can live a normal life.”
