Jake Trueman breaks silence on Hull FC switch after half a decade at Castleford Tigers

Today is a day Jake Trueman isn’t likely to forget any time soon.

The news that the halfback has suffered an ACL injury which will end his season has already been announced.

Not only does it end his season, rip apart any World Cup hopes he had but it also means he will miss the start of next season.

The injury also has an extra level of cruelness to it as well. It means that he has played his last game for Castleford – the club who moulded him and gave him his debut as a teenager setting him up for greatness.

This comes as Hull FC finally confirm the worst kept secret in rugby league by revealing that Trueman has signed for the club ahead of the 2023 season.

The halfback will have to wait to make his debut due to his ACL injury but we will see him in a Black and White shirt next season as Brett Hodgson’s Hull FC project takes its next massive step with this major coup.

He has signed a three-year deal with Hull but has taken to social media to express his thanks to Castleford as he spoke openly for the first time since the news was confirmed.

He said: “Can’t thank Cas enough for the last 5/6 years, gave me an opportunity when I was 17 and I wouldn’t be playing Super League now without them, I’ll always be grateful for what the club, coaches and especially the boys have done for me.

“Made some great memories and mates. Thanks for everything Cas, it’s been a pleasure.”

He also spoke excitedly about the challenge awaiting at Hull: “Buzzing to have signed for Hull FC for the next three years. Can’t wait to get started next year and get my knee fully fit.”
