Jake Connor reveals what ‘isn’t enough’ for him at Hull FC

Jake Connor knows what makes him tick more than anyone else.

The Hull FC fullback tops the try assist chart in 2022 by some distance but that still hasn’t stopped the maverick from been criticised.

It is in defence where Connor had most of his critics, but his attacking results speak for themselves and the Black and Whites’ number one wants more from the rest of this team, citing the example of St Helens and how they are a playing an exciting brand of rugby whilst still about to to do it in a champion-like fashion.

“I played football until I was 14 but I got hooked on rugby,” Connor told Sky Sports: The DetailI.

“I think at the moment the silverware is massive. I’ve only won a Challenge Cup – and I know some people don’t get to do that – but I don’t think it is enough for me. I want the Grand Final, seeing Saints do it ever year is not a nice feeling.

“We are having the same conversations every year, but I want to perform in the big games and win silverware.

With regards to playing in the World Cup at the end of year, Connor clearly wants to make it big for his country on the international stage for all to see but he hasn’t done enough to wow England head coach Shaun Wand at present this year having missed out on the mid-season friendly with the Combined Nations All Stars.

And, the Hull maverick didn’t really have too much to say on that particular subject.

“It comes to playing well and that’s all I can focus on and that comes off putting in good performances.

“There are some great players that England have got and I’m sure he is going to pick the right team in the end.”
