Yesterday, both Hull FC and Castleford won their local derbies to help their play-off hopes. The Black and Whites edged Hull KR by a single point in a scintillating contest. Meanwhile there was drama at the Jungle as the Tigers claimed a 23-18 win over Wakefield. Well, that was my take from yesterday, but how did social media react?
Let’s start in Hull. The match winner in yesterday’s derby was once again Marc Sneyd. He did what he always seems to do and nailed a decisive drop goal to seal the win despite a late rally from the Robins. It’s safe to say he was showered in praise.
Marc Sneyd again what a man

can’t live with marc sneyd

One Hull fan used his drop goal to take a swipe at one of their opponents.
Roman Milnes when you buy a Marc Sneyd on wish!

Rowan Milnes missed a drop goal attempt in the first half and in the end it proved the difference. But we shouldn’t take away from the youngster’s performance. He was outstanding despite ending up on the losing side and received plenty of praise himself.
I could watch @rowanmilnes play #RugbyLeague all day, pure class! @SkySportsRL #HULLvHKR

@rowanmilnes great try lad

However, for me there was a clear cut Man of the Match and it wasn’t either halfback. It was Jake Connor he proved the difference thanks to his attacking prowess.
Jake Connor you beautiful bastard😍

@hullfcofficial are a completely different unit when Jake Connor plays. He literally orchestrates every attack. #hullderby

As per usual, he was also involved in some of the more heated moments in the game which naturally produced a response from Twitter.
Even jake connors mum must hate jake connor

Can't wait for the day some 1 loses their head and proper knocks Jake Connor out. #SLHulHkr #Hullderby

However, despite the fact Connor was the star of the show, one man came up with the match winning play and that man was Jordan Lane.
@Jordan__Lane that charge down from you at the end was simply outstanding! Well done on the Derby win today! Always good to get back on the winning horse! Rest up and be ready for Castleford! #COYH ⚫⚪⚫⚪⚫⚪ xx

Over at the Jungle, Cas just about edged a superb derby against Wakefield to claim their 16th derby day win in a row over Trinity. The win leaves Castleford well and truly in the play-off race and they can thank Danny Richardson for that. He’s appeared to find some fine form of late.
Whisper it…
Danny Richardson *could* still be the man.

On another note, Danny Richardson my man of the match. Much improved last few weeks & great to see his confidence back 🐯

Meanwhile, despite being on the losing side Wakefield fans were relatively pleased. They believe the team are making serious improvements.
Unlucky lads… let’s make sure we smash the whinos to make up for it !!!!
