Jacob Miller explains why he was tempted to Castleford Tigers from Wakefield Trinity

Last night Castleford’s squad building going into 2023 continued with a major signing.

After announcing the signing of Albert Vete and youngster Muizz Mustapha from Leeds – a signing that fed into the project Lee Radford is building at the Jungle with more young signings set to be announced – the Tigers announced the signing of star halfback Jacob Miller.

Miller joins after excelling at Wakefield and made the bold move across Wakefield to Trinity’s near neighbours.

Speaking on Tigers TV, Miller underlined his excitement at joining the Tigers: “I’m really excited and I’m really glad to be here. I can’t wait to meet all the new boys and get started for next season.”

He then reflected on making such a bold move over to Wakefield’s rivals explaining that the exciting project building at Castleford was too good to resist: “It’s obviously cross city rivals, the team and the squad that we’re building for next year is really exciting and that was probably the main thing that got me over the line and also linking back up with some familiar faces that I’ve played with before and been coached by before.

“I spent a good year with Radford, it didn’t work out at the time but looking forward to linking up with him again.”

Miller is set to be joined by another star halfback at Castleford in 2023 with the Tigers expected to announce the signing of Gareth Widdop to put together an exciting halfback partnership.

Both will be at the heart of this exciting project Miller spoke about as the Tigers look to claim a play-off spot after coming up short in 2021 and 2022.
