Jackson Hastings teases possible Super League return

Jackson Hastings will be leaving Super League to join Wests Tigers in the NRL from 2022 onwards after playing four-and-a-half seasons in the UK.

Hastings made a move to Super League side Salford Red Devils midway through the 2018 season after off-field incidents plagued his time Down Under.

However, it was a match made in heaven as Hastings propelled Salford to a Grand Final before helping to do the same for Wigan Warriors last season.

And, the Australian has spoken about just how grateful he is to the two clubs for helping him through a rough patch in his life.

“It’s been an honour to play for Salford and Wigan, the people of both clubs have taken a chance on me and put their arm around me when not many would,” Hastings said.

“I love this club and I love Salford and without my partner and her family in England and my family back home I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

Hastings added: “I’m leaving this club a better man than when I joined.

“I’m just grateful for everything, I understand what it is to be a professional rugby league player and I didn’t respect that before.

“Getting to a Grand Final is addictive, the people of this club put their arm around me and I can never repay them.”

Despite signing a deal with the Wests Tigers, Hastings teased a possible Super League return later down the line.

“Thank you for accepting me and singing my name and caring about me and thank you for supporting my mum and grandad who is still in hospital.

“My family has warmed to both clubs and I hope both clubs are successful.

“Who knows one day I might come back and get a win in a Grand Final.”
