There has been a lot of big rugby league news and especially Super League news over the past month especially round transfers with Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves and Leeds Rhinos making moves for next year and Hull KR making a statement signing for the hear and now.
They have drafted in NRL halfback Brad Schneider for the run in as they look to cement their play-off place and fight their way to a Challenge Cup Final in order to right the wrongs of their 2015 final defeat.
But as that news was announced, Warrington announced the news that Lachlan Fitzgibbon would be joining the club for next year as he leaves the Newcastle Knights.
The Wolves came in for Fitzgibbon after he was in talks with Leeds Rhinos and with an improved offer to snare the second-row ahead of next year.
Speaking on the move, Fitzgibbon said: “It’s been in my vision for the last couple of years to make the move over to Super League.
“They play a really good brand of rugby league in the UK which I feel will suit my game. At 29 I want to come over while I still have my best years in front of me.
“The history of the club and how important the club is to the town and the people of Warrington really resonated with me. I’m from a town over here in Newcastle and it’s full of passionate people who love their footy.
“Michael Monaghan is one of our Assistant Coaches at the Knights and spoke very highly about the club. I know Kurt Gidley too who’s a Newcastle legend. Kurt spoke so positively about the club and town. Hearing how much he enjoyed his time over there really made me feel comfortable about the decision and the move to England.
“I’m looking forward to getting over there and meeting the Warrington fans.”
Now former Salford Red Devils and Wigan star Jackson Hastings has made a bold statement about the arrival of Fitzgibbon in Super League backing him and George Williams to be the best halfback and edge backrow partnership in the league.
“Congratulations Fitzy! George Williams and Lachlan will be the best edge combo in the league next year. Good luck 3 in defenders.”
