Jackson Hastings backs up George Williams against “keyboard warrior”

Round 19 of the Betfred Super League was pivotal with a big game between Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves, a golden point classic between Leeds Rhinos and Hull KR, a brilliant clash between St Helens and Catalans Dragons as well as a vital win for Hull FC over Castleford Tigers.

But the big game was at the DW as Wigan defeated Warrington. The teams in fourth and fifth before the game, it was key for both sides and their hopes of making the top two and having a guaranteed semi-final.

It was also vital as they look to secure their play-off spots and at the very least one home play-off game.

In the end it was Wigan who came away with the win with a strong second half turning a 12-all scoreline into a 26-12 triumph.

A massive game and there were some twists and turns before kick off with Daryl Powell forced to leave out star man and former Wigan halfback George Williams as he battles back from a hamstring injury.

However, even after the game, Williams’ story wasn’t complete.

One fan took a shot at Williams for being pictured laughing by the Sky Sports cameras.

He called for Williams and Powell to leave on Twitter saying: “Sky sports showing George Williams laughing… I’d say go and take Powell with you.”

This prompted a harsh response from Williams who said that the fan had asked for his picture and called for him to be honest with him in person next time.

He said: “You asked me for a picture after the game… should of kept the same energy as your tweet in person but you never. #keyboardwarrior”

Following this a former Wigan star and another great halfback in the shape of Jackson Hastings threw his support behind Williams saying:

“They do anything for a like some people, until the truth comes out. Keep calling it out.”

This came after his former teammate Sam Tomkins and the man Williams replaced as England skipper had a bold statement to make about the halfback.

He claimed the only way Warrington could win Super League was with a fit George Williams.

The Wolves now have a week off due to being out of the Challenge Cup at the hands of Wigan no less.

Thus, Williams will be ready for Round 20 you would expect.
