Jack Walker replacement revealed as ex-Leeds man debuts

This weekend’s rugby league action comes to a close tonight as a big Championship clash is broadcast live on TV.

The broadcast has a difficult task on its hands in terms of getting attention. That’s because over on Sky Sports is the multi-hour coverage of the Merseyside derby on Monday Night Football as Liverpool and Everton collide.

But for those who need their rugby league fix on the eve of Super League, you can watch a big Championship clash tonight.

It is big as well with York RLFC hosting the Bradford Bulls. York have made some big signings over the past few years and last year made the play-offs and are keen to get closer to Super League in 2023.

They have a new coach in former Warrington Wolves assistant and Keighley Cougars Director of Rugby Andrew Henderson after James Ford joined Wakefield Trinity to be Mark Applegarth’s assistant.

So, it is the start of a new era in 2023 and were set to hand a debut to new signing Levi Edwards after he joined from Leeds Rhinos this week on a three year deal.

He is a player previously described by Richard Agar as a “generational talent.”

They are hosting a brilliant Bradford Bulls side with Super League experience from former Rhino Bodene Thompson and skipper and ex-Huddersfield Giants veteran Michael Lawrence.

Sadly star man Jack Walker is injured. This too is a test of their promotion credentials with many seeing them as the dark horses in 2023.

A big game you can watch live on Viaplay Sports 1 from 19:15 tonight.

You can also watch it on their website if you have an account.

Remember, Viaplay is the renamed Premier Sports.

Edwards debut, second debut having played for them before on loan, has now been confirmed.

The former Rhino starts at centre meanwhile for the Bulls Walker’s replacement has been revealed to be Tom Holmes.

Holmes surprisingly was given the number one shirt for the new season despite it not being one of his natural positions but with Walker out he has moved to the fullback slot tonight.
