Jack Farrimond lauded by Wigan Warriors boss after another Man of the Match display

Wigan Warriors boss Matt Peet has addressed his side’s 24-4 victory over Leeds Rhinos, highlighting one key man for his incredible efforts.

The Warriors kept Leeds scoreless until the 67th minute, where Maika Sivo crossed for his 18th try of the season.

Jack Farrimond opened the scoring, before Adam Keighran and Noah Hodkinson gave the home side a 16-0 lead at the break.

Keighran slotted a penalty goal, before Jake Wardle bagged the final try to give Wigan back-to-back wins over the top two in Super League.

Try-scorer Farrimond was named Man of the Match for the third consecutive game, and has continued to stand out.

“He knew he had a big job on tonight,” the Wigan boss said on the 20-year-old.

“He’s very talented, but he’s a goer as well, so that’s why we love him.”

Farrimond’s efforts poses a big debate as to what happens to him when star man Bevan French returns, with the youngster far too good to not be playing in the top flight.

On that upcoming problem, Peet said: “It’s a great position to be in. It will work itself out.

“I’ve learned these things over the years. He’s going to be an asset for us.”

Wigan Warriors turn a corner after third straight win

After four league defeats in a row, plenty were questioning whether Wigan would be in title contention this year, but their last two outings have certainly proved that they are a match for anyone in the competition.

Asked what has changed from those losses to two huge wins over St Helens and now Leeds, Peet explained: “Nothing really.

“I was questioning things myself, that’s our job, isn’t it?

“There’s very fine lines, very fine margins and it’s not just week-to-week, but minute-to-minute, player by player.

“We’ll just keep trying to get better.”
