“It’s time to call it a day” – Former Hull FC man Jack Logan explains decision to leave York City Knights

Earlier today, York City Knights confirmed that former Hull FC and Leigh Centurions centre Jack Logan would be leaving the club after making just three appearances for the side.

The Knights, who this weekend entertain Newcastle Thunder with a place in the Fifth Round of the Challenge Cup up for grabs, explained that “personal reasons” were behind for his sudden departure.

However, a social media post from Logan himself has shed further light on the decision with the ex-Hull FC man revealing that it was “time to call it a day” in the sport.

On Instagram, Logan said: “Had to make a tough call this week, I’ve realised it’s time to call it a day with my rugby! It wasn’t an easy decision, trust me, but I think it’s time to put my family first, instead of my rugby! I’ve played for some great clubs and met some great blokes along the way! I’m proud of what I managed to do in my career, and I’ll cherish those memories for life. It’s not a easy thing to do this but it is equally, if not easier then the mental stress and pressures that playing the sport causes, not only for myself but for my family to! I’ll never say never, but at this moment, and as far as I can see into the future, I can’t see me playing competitive rugby league again! Its time to concentrate on my new career, and start to build a solid base for my son to be able to have the best upbringing I can give him! Thanks to everyone who’s supported me along the way! I really am thankful for everyone of you!”

So, having made his Super League debut back in 2014 as a teenager, he has now left the sport behind at the age of just 26 as he hopes to concentrate on a new career and his family.

After revealing this, he posted a montage of his best Super League tries that he intends to show his son some day which you can watch here.

This included his hat-trick in the Hull derby in 2019 that endeared him to Hull FC fans for life.

He’ll no doubt be remembered at the likes of Batley and Leigh too who he played for in 2021. That season also saw him make his return to the MKM Stadium to play, and score, one last time for Hull FC.
