‘It’s like being in court’: Liam Watts unleashes on disciplinary panel

It’s perhaps fair to say that Castleford Tigers’ Liam Watts has had his share of visits to the RFL disciplinary meetings.

But, in an honest interview with the Trot The Egg In podcast, the rampaging front-rower has outlined just how frustrating the occasion can sometimes be.

Watts was subject to a one-match ban earlier in the year and appealed, only for the ban to be upgraded to two games for a ‘frivolous’ appeal.

“To be fair, I think it’s very overstated for what it is; you go and put your plea in and it’s like being in full on court,” Watts said.

“They all sit round the table and look at it and there’s ex-players on it like Stuart Fielden, who never had the best disciplinary record!

“And I’m like ‘are you joking me’ with some of the decisions – it’s just a money spinner.

“I’ve walked out of them and I didn’t expect anything worse – some of the decisions that are made are diabolical.

“But, it is what it is and you’ve just to cop it and move on and try not to do it again.”
