“It’s an honour” – Ex-Huddersfield Giants man reacts to taking on important role at Bradford Bulls

Bradford Bulls have confirmed their captain and vice captain for the 2023 Championship season.

They are going in search of promotion back to Super League after they were relegated in 2014.

They have made a number of high profile signings for the new season including Super League’s youngest ever Grand Final winner in Jack Walker.

Walker helped Leeds to glory at the age of 18 and a couple of months in 2017 and will be joined at Bradford by former teammate Bodene Thompson whose last Leeds appearance came in the Grand Final against St Helens.

He has now been given the role of vice captain for 2023.

Another Super League club Bradford turned to for signings was Huddersfield Giants as they brought in veteran prop Michael Lawrence who has now taken on the captaincy at Odsal under coach Mark Dunning.

Fellow former Giant Chester Butler made the permanent move to Odsal this winter.

On taking on the role of captain at Bradford, Lawrence said:

”It’s a honour to be named captain for the 2023 season. Can’t wait to lead the boys out in the new year.”

In leaving Huddersfield, Lawrence gave up the captaincy and the club captain role has been taken on by Leroy Cudjoe.

The Giants playing captain remains Luke Yates.

The likes of George Flanagan, Jack Walker and Jordan Lilley will acts as a leadership group.
