Ireland name squad numbers as Leeds Rhinos star’s position confirmed as Wigan Warriors star set to join Huddersfield Giants man in brilliant back

Ireland have an impressive squad in the Rugby League World Cup and the confirmation of their squad numbers only draws more attention to their quality.

One question going into the tournament was would Richie Myler of Leeds Rhinos play in the halves or at fullback having played both to brilliant effect for the Rhinos in 2022 on the way to Old Trafford.

Myler has been given the number one shirt as Ireland’s first choice fullback as three-time NRL winner Luke Keary gets six and ex-Hull KR and current Halifax Panthers man gets seven.

The outside backs are impressive with Wigan centre Toby King set to wear four and be joined by Huddersfield Giants man on that edge in Innes Senior who is given the number five.

Leigh’s Ed Chamberlain wears three alongside teammate Keanan Brand who wears two. Louis Senior is given 20 ahead of his move to Hull KR.

Wigan prop Liam Byrne is number 8 whilst the backrow numbers are taken by Leeds’ James Bentley (11) and Hull KR’s Franke Halton (12).

Skipper George King takes 13 as Huddersfield Giants’ latest signing Harry Rushton takes 15.

Warrington prop Rob Mulhern wears 19 as St Helens’ Dan Norman takes 17 and Leeds bound James McDonnell takes 14.

Former Huddersfield man and York bound Ronan Michael takes 21.
