The attendance for the 2024 Challenge Cup Final between Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves has been revealed.
In a boost for the sport and the competition, the official attendance has come in at 64,845.
That is the highest number since 2017 and comfortably beats the attendance of 58,213 posted in last year’s final between Leigh Leopards and Hull KR.
The attendance this year was undoubtedly boosted by two of the game’s biggest clubs making it to the final, while Wakefield Trinity also brought a contingent for the 1895 Cup Final.
It was a positive day for the sport, with the occasion a fitting tribute to the late Rob Burrow with fans impeccably observing a minute’s silence before the game and then all rising to applaud in the seventh minute.
Wigan stole the day and took home the trophy, prevailing 18-8 in the day’s main event. That came after St Helens won the women’s title with a resounding 22-0 win over Leeds Rhinos.
