Important update on Super League club’s pursuit of Featherstone Rovers star as sizeable offer made and turned down

This time last year, Featherstone Rovers were chasing star signing Joey Leilua.

Now Leilua is reportedly being chased by a Super League club.

This comes from French publication L’Independant who are reporting that Leilua, along with former Warrington Wolves and Salford Red Devils prop Ben Murdoch-Masila.

The Dragons have quota spots available after the recent departures of Josh Drinkwater to Warrington Wolves, Samisoni Langi to Wakefield Trinity, Dean Whare to the Elite One Championship and the release of Dylan Napa yesterday.

They’ve signed Adam Keirghan to replace one of the centres and Leilua could fill the other hole there with Tyrone May set to replace Drinkwater in the halves.

However, Serious About Rugby League understand that Featherstone received an approach for Joey from Catalans who offered Joey a sizeable package, it didn’t go anywhere, and Joey is focussed on earning promotion to Super League with Featherstone.

The Dragons are the only Super League side with plenty of recruiting left to do and this leaves them in that position.

Wakefield Trinity could very well make another signing as Serious About Rugby League understands the original plan was to make five signings and have only made four.

Leigh Leopards meanwhile have a quota spot open.
