16 competing nations will be holding their breath next week as World Cup organisers will decide whether or not the tournament will go ahead.
It will either go ahead as normal or be moved to 2022 with time running out for organisers.
Despite the vaccination programme in the UK bringing optimism, NRL clubs have voiced their concerns this week about releasing their players.
With more than 400 players and officials based in the southern hemisphere believed to have been offered chartered flights for the return trip to England to ensure they are kept away from the general public, it was thought that clubs would go along with the plans.
Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case and a decision is expected to be imminent.
