Super League confirmed at the end of 2022 that interim Chair and Huddersfield Giants owner Ken Davy had stepped down from his role as interim Chair as had always been planned as part of the governance realignment process.

Davy was elected by his SLE Board colleagues two years ago to lead the organisation through what has proved to be a period of dramatic change within Super League and the sport of Rugby League.

Working with the Strategic Working Party, he has overseen the establishment of Rugby League’s 12-year partnership with IMG, and the formation of RL Commercial, a joint venture between SLE and the Rugby Football League into which all the commercial assets of the sport have been assigned.

Having been key to the introduction of IMG to rugby league, Davy spoke about one specific area that IMG are targeting as he spoke to Giants TV at the Super League launch.

He said:

“We see the partnership with IMG as a real opportunity for the game to move forward.

“We as supporters of the game now it’s a great game, but now it’s about spreading the word and one of the big things for IMG is social media as well as broadcasting.

“We’re looking forward to those figures expanding and more and more people talking about the game, about the players and how much fun it is to come to a game.

“There’s nothing like being there.”

The Giants are a club who have had a tremendous growth in this area and have returned to YouTube this year having grown on Twitter, TikTok and Instagram in 2023.
