Image from Super League clash shows why we need video referees at every game

The video referee is always a talking point in Super League.

Among the more common discussions is the need to have the video referee at every fixture.

It has often been suggested that this makes things unfair at games not live on TV as they are essentially played under different rules.

This is not to criticise officials. Referees are only human and will make mistakes which is why the video referee is so important in big games.

Now a new image shared on social media highlights the need for a video referee at every game.

In the game between Leigh Leopards and Warrington Wolves, Josh Charnley scored yet another try and one that hurt his former club.

However, an image shared by disgruntled Warrington fans shows that Charnley’s foot was in touch.

This wouldn’t have made much of a difference in the game Leigh were so on top as they claimed a 30-12 win.

However, it points to the need for a video referee at every game.

The image can be seen below:

It is of course difficult to facilitate a video referee at every game financially and with the number of officials.

But hopefully this is something we will see in the future.
