“I’m a bit disappointed” – Leeds Rhinos’ James Bentley’s reaction to yellow card against Wakefield

Leeds Rhinos’ James Bentley enjoyed a great game against Wakefield on Friday night as they defeated Trinity 24-6 at Headingley.

He scored a brace of tries and produced a hard working display as he picked up his first win for Leeds having missed the others through suspension.

After the game he spoke to the club’s YouTube channel and reflected on the result: “My first win for Leeds because I missed the others, really happy. Good performance from the lads and we get the points that’s the main thing.”

His tries were also his first for the club and he reflected on that as well: “Off the nudey. My first ones for Leeds. I’m buzzing but the win’s the main thing.”

Unfortunately despite his brace of four-pointers, the headlines surrounding the former St Helens man centred around his yellow card which came when he hit Thomas Minns hard after a towering bomb from Blake Austin.

Bentley believed it was a little harsh: “I’m a bit disappointed. Obviously I’m trying to get that out of my game but I didn’t think there was much in it to be honest but I’ll have to watch it back and see what it’s like and take it from there this week.”

Nonetheless, he now has an anxious wait to see whether he receives another ban which has sadly been a hallmark of his time at Headingley thus far undercutting what has been a string of good performances in the Blue and Amber.
