Castleford boss Daryl Powell insists his side are still capable of a top four finish.
The Tigers sit in seventh place, having only one five games this season and although Powell is well aware of his team’s struggles in recent weeks, he refuses to rule out a play-off place while it remain mathematically possible.
“We have not given up on this year just yet,” he said. “You are always looking for positives out of every situation.
“The very last thing I want from anybody in our organisation is that they give up.
“If you give up, you should not be here. I have made that clear to everybody here at the club at the moment that we are not here to be giving up on any situation.
“Every game plays a part in your development as a person, player and as an organisation.”
Castleford face a Hull side this evening who have had their own problems this season, and they travel to the Jungle with an identical record to that of the Tigers.
Knowing it could be a make or break game, Powell is urging his injury-hit team to put it all on the line in a bid to keep the club’s season alive.
“This week it is all about that we are still capable of making the top four,” said Powell. “It is made all the more difficult that we do not have all our players or anywhere near a full team.
“We have a significant number of players missing and they are pretty important players to the team.
“What I would say to all of our players is ‘it is about you, the club and us collectively working tooth and nail all the way through the season’.
“We’re absolutely 100 percent not giving up on anything just yet.”
