Ian Watson identifies the gamechanger for Leeds as his Huddersfield side falls short

Ian Watson’s Huddersfield side lost by just six points away at Leeds tonight, with the head coach praising his side.

However, the former Salford boss believed that with more experience on the field, the result could have been a lot different.

“We’re really disappointed; we started well enough to give ourselves a chance in the game, but they rolled us up the field and we didn’t et any field position for 20-25 minutes in the second-half.

“They restricted us and became a bit of a one-out team, but once we got a bit of field position we looked hell of a lot better.

“There were a lot of positives, I’m proud of the effort.

“We’re a tough team to beat but we’re getting beat through naivete – we’ve got a lot of young players that are playing a lot of minutes.”

Watson identified the main man who was instrumental in Leeds’ victory.

“The one who won the game for Leeds was Rob Lui, whilst Zane Tetevano and Bodene Thompson were great too.

“But, we will hopefully get some more experience back next week.

“With someone like Lui threatening you – he’s quality and we’ve got a lot of guys who are learning in that position but it’ll be good for them going forward.”
