Ian Watson gives big update on Theo Fages and Will Pryce

Huddersfield Giants head towards their first Challenge Cup Final since 2009 on Saturday afternoon at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Having failed to taste victory in the prestigious tournament since 1953, Ian Watson’s men will be wanting to turn that history around.

But, the Claret and Gold may have to do without either or both of Oliver Russell and Theo Fages due to injury.

Whilst Russell limped off down the tunnel in Huddersfield’s narrow win over Toulouse Olympique last week, Fages has been nursing a calf injury for a number of weeks.

“Oliver Russell was sent off for a scan but we think he will be fine,” Watson told BBC Radio Leeds

“Theo is training on his own but we will know more as we go through the week, the physios can decide who is in the better shape.”

Watson also has no qualms about putting Will Pryce back into the fray if necessary despite not playing for ten games due to suspension.

“Will is a very confident character and I’ve got no problems with putting Will into a Challenge Cup Final if we need to put him in,” Watson continued.

“He has looked outstanding in training this morning, but you wish he had been back a few weeks ago to give you a little bit more of a headache.

“But, Will will be outstanding if he plays.”
