Huddersfield Giants will be hoping to use today’s Challenge Cup tie away at Salford Red Devils as a springboard for the season.

They have already received a major boost with the return of Theo Fages and Joe Greenwood into the squad.

This was needed as Ian Watson underlined the club’s struggles with injuries lately.

“We were talking about a couple of injuries this morning and how we have had it pretty tough to be fair and how the guys coming back in can be a big shot in the arm to be fair in terms of confidence,” Watson said.

“You look at Joe Greenwood being out for a while, Theo Fages, Oliver Russell and you can keep going on and on, Ash Golding and you can keep going on.

“We are still picking up injuries now. Obviously Owen Trout has done his ACL, everyone knows about him and he is going to be out for a long period of time.

“We have got Jermaine who is in with a scan again this week.

“So we have had it a bit tough this week. It is what it it is. It’s rugby. We can’t worry or complain about it, we have to deal with it as a squad.”
