Salford coach signs new deal

Ian Watson contract

Salford Red Devils Head Coach Ian Watson has signed a new three-year contract with the club.

Watson took over as coach in 2015 having previously played for Salford. He is part of a vision by owner Marwan Koukash and CEO Ian Blease to make the club more sustainable.

After signing the new deal, Watson spoke to the Red Devils website to share his delight after committing to his long-term future to the club.

“This a really proud moment for me. Being a Salford lad myself, this club means a huge deal to me and I’m delighted to given the opportunity to be able to continue to take it forward.

I feel like we have come a long way since 2015, and with the foundations we have put in place over the last two years, we will be able establish this club at the top end of Super League.”

Meanwhile key forward Ben Murdoch-Masila and centre Junior Sa’u have also signed a three-year deals with the Red Devils having started the season in fine form.

CEO Ian Blease said: “Ben is the most exciting Back Row Forward in Super League at the moment, he’s the type of player that we need at the club, and the type of person that epitomises what we are about.

“Junior is another piece of the puzzle going forward and it’s great to have him sign on again. The way he conducts himself as both a player and person is a credit to him and the club, and I’m really pleased that he has committed to the Red Devils.”
