‘I would run at Oledzki and know nothing is coming back’ – Jon Wilkin slams soft Leeds Rhinos pack

Hull FC

Leeds Rhinos hit a new low point in a disappointing Super League season so far, as they suffered a humiliating 18-10 defeat away at Hull FC. Hull had lost 11 consecutive games in all competitions coming into the game. However, they had too much for a beleaguered Leeds who never looked like winning the game.

Former Hull KR, St Helens and Toronto Wolfpack forward, Jon Wilkin, knows all about what it takes to play against the Rhinos. Wilkin was part of a Saints side which regularly faced off against the Rhinos in Super League Grand-Finals, with Leeds often getting the better of him throughout his career.

However, this Leeds side is a shadow of the side that would regularly lift Super League and Challenge Cup titles in their Golden Generation. Now, speaking in the aftermath of Leeds’ disastrous defeat, Wilkin has identified what he believes to be the root of their current problems on the pitch.

Speaking after the game, Sky Sports pundit, Wilkin, singled out one specific area of Leeds’ performance for criticism. According to Wilkin, the Rhinos’ back was largely to blame for their defeat. Wilkin believes that the Leeds pack has a soft underbelly.

Wilkin went as far as to say that he would relish the opportunity to line up against this Leigh pack, singling out Mikolaj Oledzki as someone he would like to face. Wilkin said:

“You know, one of the issues for me, I look at the pack and I was soft, right? People will throw this accusation at me, that I was a soft player or whatever people want to say at me. I would lick my lips playing against that pack, the Leeds pack.

“I would fly out the line and try and biff Mik Oledzki just because I know nothing’s coming back at me. And how sad is that for me to say?” Before concluding that his old team-mates would have made light work of this Leeds pack. “I had tough guys in my team who would just blow them away.”

The standard of reporting is primary school standard. The Leeds back? The next sentence it’s the Leigh pack. Absolutely dreadful plus never any reports on teams from the successful Lancashire County. Get some decent journalists instead of people who struggle to crayon between the lines.

I don’t support Leeds I was referring to the amateurish reporting. It’s about Leeds but referred to as Leigh

Maybe Graham you just don’t like what is being said about Leeds? I think Wilkin is spot on Oledski is robbing a living.

Wilkin just likes slating leeds. Still bitter that he always lost to leeds in the grand final. He’s even worse at commentating than he was at playing.
