“I want to get hot and sexy” – Run of the mill rugby league interview takes bizarre turn

Brandon Smith has traded Melbourne Storm for Sydney Roosters in 2023.

Like any new signing, Smith was talking to the club’s website in an interview and it was your run of the mill kind of stuff at first:

“I’m just waiting until I can put the jersey on and go to war first,” he told the club’s website.

“I think that’s when it will really sink in.”

But as he started to talk about pre-season, things took a bizarre turn as he said he wanted to get “hot and sexy” through pre-season.

“It’s been really tough,” he said, “I’m getting used to the training with a lot of long distance stuff. I’m loving it because I try to get hot and sexy and fit for a job.

“Hopefully after another 47 more days, I’ll look good at Bondi Beach with my shirt off. That’s not why I’m getting fit – rugby league is my number one.”

To be fair to Smith, he soon returned focus back to more normal rugby league topics:

“I didn’t know what to think of him when I first came here,” Smith said.

“He looks like he’s about to kill everyone in the changing room at times, but when you have a conversation with him, he’s a really good fella.

“I didn’t realise how fit a lot of the forwards are here. They’re big boys but they can really move their legs, so it’s been good to watch.

“I’m very fortunate that I’ve known Jared and Joey from those camps, and I’ve met a lot of the boys through rugby league so it’s made everything good.”
