The news last night finally broke that Kane Evans would be joining Hull FC ahead of the 2022 Super League season.
The Fijian international signed on a two-year deal and also had stints in the NRL with Sydney Roosters and Parramatta Eels, before joining the New Zealand Warriors.
But, just how did social media react to the news?
One Hull FC fan hailed the club’s recruitment ahead of the new season.
So after the terrible 2nd half of last season it was obvious that we needed a bit more bulk in the middle, more pace on the wings and a quicker hooker!
And that’s exactly what we’ve got! Very impressed with these signings 💪— Dj (@DanielDejJordan) October 27, 2021
However, another FC supporter did not agree with the signing.
I honestly thought Brett Hodgson was a lot, lot smarter than this.

Yet, the mainstream opinion was one of excitement.
Great signing, right age for a prop. Has played most of his career in first grade. Everyone moaned let's get Satae some serious help up front, we have. I think its a great way to use the quota spot. Plays with his heart on sleeve thats my kind of player, com on you Hull.

Another duo can’t wait to see him in action.
6’5 and 17.5 stone 👍🏼

However, some people continued to disagree with the move.

Some questioned his disciplinary record.
Don't need anymore loose cannons. Hope I'm wrong.

One Hull supporter gave an impassioned defence of Evans.
Great signing can’t wait for him to shut all these fake supporters up

Another can’t wait to see him in action.
Just what we needed a real prop 🔥🔥 ⚫⚪ https://t.co/Hz4WDlrjZd

However, another fan did question his disciplinary record.
Just what Hull needed, a bloke to giveaway even more pens

Even a Salford fan couldn’t help but jump on the disciplinary bandwagon.
“Right Kane, thats 10 in the bin” https://t.co/qnX9IKmmj9

Another Black and Whites supporter referenced just how lonely Chris Satae was up front in 2021 and praised the Evans signing.
There’s a lot to like about this signing for Hull , a signing the club needed. As good as Chris Satae was last year Hull were too dependant on him to make the big metres and get them out of trouble. On the other hand don’t think Hull are going to make too many friends next year. https://t.co/7Z9Qr4n8bc

One fan was caught in two minds, though.
This is either going to go really well, or really shit, no middle ground😂 https://t.co/MF5noS0V7a

If you look at https://www.nrl.com/players/nrl-premiership/warriors/kane-evans/ you’ll see that at in his stints at the Roosters and the Eels he made about 500 metres per season in post-contact metres. This season, only 388 (for the Warriors). His tackle breaks were down too. He may be only 29, but his stats show he is over the hill, carrying long term injuries which reduce his effectiveness, or just not trying.
If Hull got him cheap then maybe it was a sensible buy, but I hope they went into this with their eyes open.
