‘I think he likes to be the centre of attention’ – Jon Wilkin slams Zak Hardaker’s attitude following Wigan Warriors exit

Zak Hardaker’s exit from Wigan Warriors was confirmed on Friday with his next destination far from confirmed.

A number of clubs are thought to be in the hunt, with Leeds Rhinos the club most linked with the 30-year-old.

However, his actions at Wigan have left a bitter taste in the mouths of Jon Wilkin and Sam Tomkins.

“Every club has given him an opportunity,” Wilkin said on Sky Sports.

“It’s such a privilege and you should cling onto it with everything you’ve got and not cast it aside.

“You mess up and try and get things right but I think he likes to be the centre of attention.

“Bevan French and Jai Field are the centre of attention at Wigan and he wants out, but I like how Kris Radlinski and Matt Peet have dealt with it quickly.”

Tomkins was also critical of Hardaker and his actions, but believes he will find another club easily.

“Wigan are big on culture thing, I’ve been at the club, but you can’t create a culture if you are letting things slide.

“Zak is a talented player on the field but it’s old news off the field because he can’t get it together.

“He will find somewhere else because he is a talented player.”
