“Hung out to dry by a chairman who openly admits to not providing all of the tools to help him” – how social media reacted to Chris Chester’s sacking

Wakefield head coach Chris Chester was sacked yesterday, despite claims that he would be given a new contract at the club.

That, in itself, was a bizarre twist of fate for a boss that has been at the helm for five-and-a-half years, and the rumour mill is already turning about who could replace him. But, just what is social media saying about it all?

One fan believed that Trinity should have backed him more.

Another Trinity supporter wished Chester all the best.

A different Wakefield fan said he was looking forward to the new direction.

Another fan believed CEO Michael Carter made the right decision entirely.

A few supporters didn’t expect the decision.

One Wigan fan gave his twopenny’s worth.

Another Twitter user believed that Chester would now coach a second or third tier side.

A different supporter felt his coaching record made the decision easy.

However, a neutral supporter believed Chester wasn’t to blame.

One Trinity fan called for “a real clear out”.

Another supporter believed Chester was hard done by.

One Trinity supporter believed his club are stuck in a cycle.
