Hull FC are no strangers to a Fijian winger.

It was Ratu Naulago that first lit up Super League, but now Mitieli Vulikijapani is determined to get that standard for the Airlie Birds in order to secure his future.

“My main aim is to improve myself firstly and then the rest will fall into place,” the winger said.

“I will return back to the army one day, when I signed for Hull they were really supportive for my career.

“If I sign another year for Hull, they will keep on supporting me on my career outside of the army.

“My aim is to make it into the team and make the most of my time in the team by scoring tries and being the first or second choice on the list.”

Vulikijapani joked about how the UK was a culture shock to begin with.

“Once I arrived at Heathrow airport, my cousin was waiting for me in the airport and I was wearing flip-flops and a t-shirt and I was freezing to death.

“He gave me his coat! they said never trust the UK weather!”
