It shocked many a fortnight ago when Hull KR acquired Corey Hall from Wakefield Trinity in a swap deal for full-back Will Dagger.

Beyond the initial shock came excitement for Rovers fans at the prospect of this young talented centre who could be set to learn under veteran Shaun Kenny-Dowall, and then potentially serve as a long term replacement.

At the time Rovers were short on centres but the move has been made with the future in mind as James Batchelor slotted in at centre in the game against Leeds that week, whilst the likes of Tom Opacic was injured and SKD remained suspended.

Willie Peters has now spoken about when fans can expect to see the 20-year-old centre but with Opacic and SKD back, and the likes of Sam Wood waiting in the wings it could be a while.

Peters explained: “Corey has got a bright future in the game but what we want to do is manage him in the best way possible.

“Initially that will be a slow process because he’s come into a team that at the moment is doing reasonably well, and players have been here all pre-season and done the hard yards so to speak.

“Corey Hall will definitely be playing first-team for us at some point, we have high hopes for Corey. We talked about players of the future and potential rep players, well there’s no doubt that Corey Hall can potentially be that.

“For me the immediate focus is getting him used to the environment and developing the best way he can. The worst thing for someone like Corey would be to throw him in now and then if it didn’t work out he’d get judged on that straight away.

“When he gets his opportunity he’ll be a long term player. We’ve sat down with Corey and he knows exactly where he’s at at the moment.”
