Hull KR have announced the additions of Jack and Sam Latus to their board in what is being described as a ‘milestone’ for the club. The Latus brothers run a successful company in Latus Health, which provides national occupational health and wellbeing services and was launched in Hull back in 2017.
As such, the pair know their way around business and they are more than familiar with KR, too, with Sam emerging through the academy and into the first-team as a young rugby league player. He made 38 appearances for the Robins between 2010 and 2013 with 14 tries coming along the way.
Jack Latus was also on the books at Craven Park, but he never made it into the first-team picture with his career as a player seeing him take in spells at Hunslet, Sheffield Eagles and York Knights.
Their return to Rovers comes in a very different capacity but they have been welcomed back to help the club take the next step off the field with the development of a masterplan, in the hope of adding community and commercial aspects to the existing sports campus, with planning permission to be submitted in the coming months.
“This is a milestone in the drive for the sustainability of our club,” Hull KR chairman Paul Sewell said. “Just as the first team needs a pipeline of fresh young talent, so does the board and we have been working towards this from the start of the transformation.
“That Jack and Sam are Hull business people who have been fantastically successful at a young age is great, but their former association with the club as players makes it towards perfect.”
Jack Latus added: “It feels like a good time for us because if we are going to put time into something, we want to know that we have the skill set to be able to add value. I think the lessons we have learned on the journey to build the Latus Group healthcare brand put us in a good position to help move the sport and club forward.”
“The ups and the downs of our time at the club and in the sport helped shape us to who we are today. It feels like a full circle moment to now be invited to join the board to help steer the strategic direction of the club to continued success.
“I am excited at the opportunity to be able to have the impact that I always hoped I would as a player, but this time from the safer side of the whitewash!”
