Hull KR know they can return to the top of the Super League table with a win over Castleford Tigers this evening. The Robins are two points behind Wigan Warriors in the table and with Matt Peet’s side playing on Saturday against Leeds Rhinos, the door is open for KR to hit the summit for a few hours at the very least.
To do so they will have to win by more than 14 points and given the Tigers’ current standing in the Super League, it’s fair to say KR will fancy their chances of keeping the heat up on Wigan. Castleford have struggled for traction over the course of the season and Craig Lingard’s side sit 10th at present, 11 points behind the play-offs with just seven games remaining.
They have little but pride to play for then, but they’ll still be doing all they can to claim what would be a big scalp given the way this season has panned out. They’ll be given confidence by their last meeting as West Yorkshire side pushed KR to the wire before eventually losing 13-12. Here’s a look at the team news ahead of tonight’s clash.
Hull KR team news
Most Super League clubs are battling a build up of injuries at the minute but not Hull KR. Willie Peters has a fully fit squad to choose from and with Matty Storton returning from his ban, he has the luxury of being able to leave out fully fit senior players.
He’ll be hoping it stays that way as KR push to end the season on a high at Old Trafford.
Castleford Tigers team news
Castleford are carrying slightly more issues than tonight’s opponents with the Tigers being without a host of key men. Corey Hall and George Griffin won’t be involved, while Sam Wood continues to be sidelined with a shoulder injury. Paul McShane, Josh Hodson and Sam Hall are also missing.
Jason Qareqare has been included after struggling with an issue of late and he is expected to be involved.
