Unbeaten Hull KR host Wigan Warriors on Friday night in a repeat of the 2024 Grand Final and the 21-man squads for both teams are in.
It’s been an exceptional start for Hull KR in 2025 with the Robins winning all six Super League games and progressing to the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup with relative ease, their victory over rivals Hull FC being something that opponents Wigan could not manage in the competition.
Wigan had previously beaten the Black and Whites in Round Two of Super League by a comfortable margin but found their bid for a seventh straight piece of silverware ended by John Cartwright’s side in the Round of 16.
That is one of three losses that Wigan have suffered this year but Hull KR head coach Willie Peters insists that regardless of defeats, “Wigan are the same team that they were last year”.
The sides meet on Friday night at Craven Park where Hull KR enter the game as favourites, the first time they have done so in this match-up under Willie Peters’ tenure.
Both sides have now named their 21-man squads.
Hull KR team news
For Hull KR, the major change is the loss of Mikey Lewis which Peters had confirmed on Tuesday when he spoke with the media as he revealed that a groin issue would rule the Man of Steel out.
Lewis limped off against Hull FC with the game scoreless but hooker Jez Litten came on in the halves and put in a Man of the Match performance, staking his claim for the role.
More likely would be Arthur Mourgue with the Frenchman missing on Saturday due to being cup-tied but his return is a timely one. Danny Richardson could be another option after being named in the 21-man squad.
The other man to look out for was James Batchelor after the second-rower missed the derby due to a hamstring injury but he returns to the squad in a massive boost.
Batchelor replaces Lewis whilst the only other changes sees Lee Kershaw, who has been loaned to Castleford Tigers, replaced by Noah Booth who has been out on loan with Hunslet. Arthur Mourgue also returns in place of Bill Leyland.
Hull KR 21-man squad: Tom Davies, Peta Hiku, Oliver Gildart, Joe Burgess, Tyrone May, Sauaso Sue, Jez Litten, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Dean Hadley, James Batchelor, Elliot Minchella, Micky McIlorum, Sam Luckley, Jai Whitbread, Jack Broadbent, Danny Richardson, Kelepi Tanginoa, Jack Brown, Eribe Doro, Arthur Mourgue, Noah Booth

Wigan Warriors team news
Wigan have had the week off and that’s given them plenty of time to prepare for this game but unfortunately, it’s not allowed for any of their injured players to return.
Abbas Miski has not played since Round Three, pulling out in the warm up of one game, as his knee injury continues to provide problems. The Lebanese winger will require surgery at some point but the club are hoping to delay that and he has been named in their squad for Friday night.
Miski is the one change with the winger replacing prop forward Luke Thompson who is absent for an unknown reason but is undoubtedly a massive loss at prop.
Wigan are already without fellow starting prop Ethan Havard who is dealing with a hamstring injury whilst Adam Keighran remains out after picking up an MCL injury against Hull FC. As such, Wigan’s young stars Zach Eckersley and Jacob Douglas have stepped up in the absence of Miski and Keighran, and that will likely remain the case this week.
Brad O’Neill returned from injury against Salford and the hooker is named in the squad once again alongside Kruise Leeming.
Wigan Warriors 21-man squad: Jai Field, Abbas Miski, Jake Wardle, Liam Marshall, Bevan French, Harry Smith, Brad O’Neill, Junior Nsemba, Liam Farrell, Kaide Ellis, Patrick Mago, Liam Byrne, Kruise Leeming, Tyler Dupree, Harvie Hill, Sam Walters, Zach Eckersley, Jack Farrimond, Jacob Douglas, Harvey Makin.
