Hull KR v Wakefield Trinity team news as key man returns and forwards ruled out

Hull KR

Hull KR boss Willie Peters has included Rhyse Martin in his squad for the first time since February to take on Wakefield Trinity this week.

The Robins went four points clear at the top of the table with a win over Castleford Tigers last week and Wakefield’s win over Wigan Warriors ensures that’s how they sit heading into round 16. Rovers could have been forgiven for thanking Wakefield last weekend then, but they’ll be keen to ensure Daryl Powell’s side don’t secure another upset this time around.

The inclusion of Martin, who has made just four appearances in red and white since his off-season switch from Leeds Rhinos, comes as a big boost. However, Willie Peters wasn’t able to confirm whether the back-rower would be fit enough to start when talking on Tuesday afternoon.

James Batchelor drops out for the Robins due to a throat injury, while it remains to be seen if Joe Burgess can overcome the knock that has seen him miss the last two. Danny Richardson drops out of the fold after joining Salford Red Devils on a two week loan and that opens the space for Harvey Horne to step into the squad.

Wakefield boss Powell has made three changes to his squad, with Mike McMeeken, who missed the clash with Wigan due to a pec injury, missing out. Mathieu Cozza suffered an ankle injury in that game too and won’t be involved, while Matty Russell has also fallen out of the reckoning.

That means Thomas Doyle and Ellis Lingard are included once more, while Noah Nigh could be in line for a debut, should he make it onto the Craven Park turf.
