Willie Peters has the luxury of being able to name an unchanged Hull KR squad to take on Castleford Tigers on Friday night. The Robins saw off York Knights in the Challenge Cup last weekend with a squad that can be considered to be at full strength and Peters has selected the same 21 players for the Super League opener.
That means Tom Davies, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Micky Mcllorum, Rhyse Martin and Bill Leyland are all in contention to make their Super League debuts for the Robins. Peters didn’t play Sam Luckley at the Championship side after overcoming a wrist injury, but he could come into consideration this time around.
Speaking on Tuesday, Peters confirmed his side had one or two minor issues, but it seems they haven’t been enough to alter his squad selection at this stage of the week.
Castleford, on the other hand, are without a number of players heading into the opening round of fixtures. Alex Mellor misses out due to a hamstring problem, while Jason Qareqare has a hamstring issue, too.
Rowan Milnes, Sam Hall and Louis Senior were all expected to miss round one with the latter two not expected to make a return until the midpoint of the season at least.
Zac Cini, Daejarn Asi, Jeremiah Simbiken, Judah Rimbu and Dan Okoro will be looking to make their first Super League appearances for the Tigers, while Ben Davies is included after joining on loan from St Helens.
