Reports – Hull KR to loan Leeds scrum-half for 2020 season

League Weekly have reported that Leeds Rhinos’ 19-year-old scrum-half Callum McLelland could be about to join Hull KR on loan for the 2020 season.

McLelland has featured just three times for the Rhinos since joining from Scotland Rugby Union in August 2018.

He has also spent time on loan at Featherstone this season and has fallen further down the pecking order at Headingley following the signing of Robert Lui.

Danny McGuire’s imminent retirement at Craven Park has left the Robins searching for half-back options ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

And according to League Weekly’s Dave Parker, the promising youngster could be allowed to leave on loan, with the Rhinos favouring experience over youth in the halves.

It’s believed Leeds’ Director of Rugby Kevin Sinfield rates McLelland highly and sees the potential loan move as a chance for him to gain vital Super League experience.
