Hull KR surpass huge World Club Challenge ticket milestone in just one hour

Hull KR

More than 16,000 World Club Challenge tickets were snapped up in just one hour this week, Hull KR have confirmed.

The Robins will take on NRL champions Brisbane Broncos on February 19 at the MKM Stadium for the right to call themselves the best team on the planet.

Willie Peters’ side won all three trophies available to them this year, with the season culminating in a dominant Grand Final showing at Old Trafford against Wigan Warriors.

As such, they have earned the right to make their first appearance in the World Club Challenge and they’ll be looking to secure their fourth trophy in nine months in front of a huge crowd.

Of course, Rovers fans will be eager to be there to see their side potentially make history, but the clash is an appealing one for neutral rugby league fans, too, with the likes of Reece Walsh, Patrick Carrigan and Adam Reynolds set to make the trip to East Yorkshire. Payne Haas remains with the Broncos too, despite strong suggestions he could be about to make the move to R360.

Ticket sales were always expected to go well then but Rovers have released an update to reveal they have sold more than 16,000 tickets within an hour of them going on sale to Hull KR members.

That means around two thirds of the tickets available at the MKM Stadium, which has a capacity of 25,586, have already been claimed.

Tickets will go on sale to non-ticketed Rovers members today, while the final priority window will open on Sunday to those fans who have registered their interest. Any remaining tickets will go on general sale on Monday November 17.

Demand to see the Super League champions is high going into 2026 with the Robins confirming earlier this month that they had sold 10,000 season memberships for the upcoming season.

As such, that means just 300 tickets will be released to non-ticketed members per game through the 2026 season with a number of tickets being reserved for away fans, too.

Going to need a bigger stadium! They need to decelop the South end, they have the right to buy 15 acres of land around the ground. A new South stand, that could perhaps incorporating a top quality gym and player treatment/recovery facilities, and some community facilities, or free up space elsewhere, done in conjunction with their links to the University would make sense, remove that awkward looking mini stand on the East side, integrate it with the existing stand and blend into a new South stand. Do something similar on the West side too, they could add a reasonable 4-5000, bring the capacity up to about 16,000. Shame there isn’t the money in the sport for a modern purpose built facility like a 1/3 rd scale Tottenham stadium.

On the plus side it’s far more likely something will happen than Casteleford break ground on a new stadium, they desperately need a new ground. They’ve been about to start on that for what? 30 years or so?
