Hull KR star to Hull FC – Star player addresses rumour

Harry Newman at Leeds Rhinos, Jake Wardle at Wigan Warriors, Liam Sutcliffe at Hull FC, Mark Percival, Adam Keighran and others all show the quality centres that we currently have in Super League but we are set to lose one in the shape of Shaun Kenny-Dowall who is going to retire at the end of 2023.

There was a lot of talk about what the former Hull KR star would do come the end of the year but as the club brought in Oliver Gildart and Peta Hiku it began to become clear he wouldn’t be playing for the Robins in 2023.

There was a rumour that he could link back up with friend and former coach Tony Smith at Hull FC in what would be a truly shocking move.

However, the centre has shut that down. He said on Sky Sports: “No, that was never going to happen.

“I love this club and I want to help out as much as I can.”

And he will as he goes into the development side of the game.

This came on a great night for Hull KR who laid down a real marker early on against Leigh Leopards who caused an awful lot of damage with some top notch rugby league from a much more balanced Hull KR side.

After a really strong start, Hull KR probed the line and as Brad Schneider moved across the pitch before a short ball and a great angled run allowed Shaun Kenny-Dowall to carve through and score.

After a yellow card against Leigh at Wembley which resulted in a ban, Minchella meant business as he powered over after good work from Matt Parcell.

A great player saw Mikey Lewis generate space and Ryan Hall danced down the touch line before a forward roll over the line saw him touch down.

Jack Walker was having a superb game for the Robins in a rare appearance and he linked up in a sweeping play to feed Louis Senior to score who produced a scruffy finish.

After an error from Tom Briscoe after a high kick, Lewis was on hand to take the bouncing ball and score in the corner.

The Robins then added another try with Ryan Hall devastating down the wing again before feeding the ball back inside for Shaun Kenny-Dowall to score again as the Robins gained revenge for their defeat at Wembley against Leigh in golden point.
